The air transport sector is a sector I know inside out and am hugely passionate about. This month I was therefore delighted to feature in two articles in Flight Global’s Airline Business magazine. Each article covers very current, interesting and important topics for aviation as well as many other industries.

In the first article I comment on the AI skills shortages the air transport industry is facing. There is a general shortage of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills in aviation, as in most sectors, and data science and AI skills are no exceptions. AI has the potential to transform the industry and operators will have to find ways of recruiting more people with these skills in order to stay competitive.

In the second article we cover the issue of gender diversity in aviation. As a business we strive to be advocates for workplace diversity and inclusion. I firmly believe it should be a strategic priority for the industry to inspire more women to consider STEM careers as well as introduce initiatives that enable women to become technology leaders. To prepare for this article we interviewed three of our senior aviation technology contacts and the text includes several thought-provoking quotes.
