A high-profile public sector client requires a Business Intelligence/ Data Hub Manager. Reporting to the Head of Digital Services you will bring your passion and expertise to the fore in an established cohort of energetic, smart and capable BI professionals. You will be accountable for shaping the data hub function and its associated services which has three core elements: extracting and transforming data; managing data including DQ; and presenting data and automating reporting. You will identify key gaps in data across the organisation, collate, and prioritise them, and work with the team produce a successful outcome!
This role requires deep technical experience of data warehousing, report writing and data analysis, governance and security. The successful candidate will exercise strength in leading a team and deputise for the function’s head, and be well-versed in information management technologies and industry best-practice while being able to robustly challenge the organisation and senior management to establish a scalable, successful Data-Hub function that supports all areas of the organisation.
To succeed in this role you will possess:
Specialist knowledge of business intelligence, data science and be degree qualified in related subject areas such as statistics, data or computer science or have gained significant industry experience in lieu of a degree.
Demonstrable record of strategic team management, including managing and developing a team within a public sector environment, think tank or the third sector.
Strong project management with an ability to lead matrix teams across the organisation to effect business improvement and exercise effective leadership as a member of management teams as a head of the function.
High level of business intelligence skills, and ability to develop data analysis into organisational solutions.
Demonstrable ability to manage and drive change and improvement.
Specialist knowledge of data warehousing and automated reporting solutions.
A demonstrable understanding of data governance and improving data quality to ensure data is fit for purpose.
Experience of producing and managing work programmes and project plans.
Experience of data warehouse concepts and industry standards.
Experience and in-depth knowledge of data end-user presentation mechanisms including Reporting (eg. SSRS), Universe Building (eg. Business Objects), Dashboards (eg. Power BI, Tableau, Qlick).
Implementation experience of Master Data Management solutions (eg. Citizens Index), including knowledge of various matching techniques (score, probabilistic and rules based).
Have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to ‘lead by example’, present considered ideas to stakeholders, and challenge people to think differently about why and how they can deliver services.
