Last year I started running the adult reserves for community football club Westside in Wandsworth, South London. My son Jude helps out as Assistant Coach.
We both love football, however this club is about so much more than the sport.
Westside has a significant number of young men from local council estates. Many of these individuals lead very challenging, deprived lives and have low expectations of the future.
Being part of a football club provides the players with brilliant skills and instils a much-needed sense of self-worth and belonging.
Sadly, when these boys move on to the men’s level, there is simply no funding available.
We desperately need these disadvantaged young men to be able to continue playing football. They need a great, inclusive football club to keep them motivated and around good people.
Unfortunately we risk losing many of our players as they cannot afford to play, and this often leads to them falling back into negative behaviours.
We want to give these young people every chance to succeed in life and become valued members of the community as well as awesome role models for the next generation.
In order for the men’s teams to succeed, we need to be able to fund pitches, training venue hire, match day officials, FA affiliation, insurance, kit and equipment.
If you can offer any level of sponsorship to help us continue to inspire these young men to achieve more than they ever imagined, we would be so grateful. I’m happy to discuss names on kits, training kits, banners, programmes, so please get in touch (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you can help.
